Dr. Jessie Welch, DVM, Medical Director
Veterinarian
Dr. Jessie Welch earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. She has 7 years’ experience in mixed animal practice. Dr. Welch enjoys providing quality care to her patients, providing education to owners on health management, diseases and behavioral concerns. Dr. Welch is dedicated to providing compassionate, empathetic care to her patients and their owners.
Having grown up on a farm, from the age of 9 years old, Dr. Welch knew she wanted to help animals feel better and become a veterinarian. She has a passion for cattle and goats as well as small animals. It is important for her to give every pet and farm animal the same care, including those who may need a little extra time and TLC, with every pet parent feeling comfortable knowing their pet is in good hands.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Welch enjoys baking for her family and the staff at the clinic, crocheting, listening to audio books, and most importantly- spending time with her husband and son, with another on the way.
Dr. Lori King, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Lori King earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2002. She has 23 years’ experience with large and small animal but focuses on only small animals at this time. Dr. King prides herself on making sure she has addressed all the pet parents’ questions and concerns regarding their pets to the best of her ability each visit, with the “Why” being an important piece to patient care.
Dr. King was inspired to become a veterinarian both by reading the James Herriot books in high school and by a good friend who went through the program a couple of years ahead of her. Dr. King really works hard to make sure that not only her patients are cared for, but that their owners are able to feel like they have all the tools to care for their pet.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. King enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, downhill skiing, horseback riding, and reading.
Dr. Karissa Harder, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Karissa Harder earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Midwestern University. She has three years of experience as a mixed animal general practitioner and is certified in global fast ultrasound. Dr. Harder is dedicated to providing comprehensive care, with a clinical interest in dentistry and soft tissue surgery.
Inspired by a lifelong passion for science and animals, Dr. Harder finds fulfillment in the ever-evolving field of veterinary medicine. She’s always dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and takes great joy in helping both pets and the people who love them.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Harder enjoys spending time with her horse, dog, and two cats. She loves hiking, weightlifting, attending concerts, and playing soccer on weekends.
Lauren Moreta, Hospital Manager
Hospital Manager
With 5 years’ experience in leadership, Lauren has been in Veterinary Medicine for 3 years, starting as a Veterinary Assistant. She has worked with farm animals and pets from Washington to Oregon, both in clinic and on farm calls. Lauren believes in quality, compassionate care with empathy for not only all pets treated in the clinic, but also their owners. She also believes in compassionate strong leadership for her team and works hard to provide them the care they need as they work with some of the most difficult cases.
Lauren has always wanted to work with animals and found a calling to veterinary medicine after having one of her own pets go through a major health issue. She transitioned into Veterinary Medicine from human healthcare as a phlebotomist and lab assistant. She believes Veterinary Medicine isn’t just healthcare but a partnership with the owners and pets on their life journey. Lauren also makes sure to cuddle as many of the pets she can that come into their clinic because she believes in making sure every pet knows they are loved.
Outside of her professional life, Lauren loves to spend time with her two dogs and her three nephews, read, listen to music and podcasts, and work in her yard.
Hailey
CVT, Treatment Team Lead
Hailey received her CVT from Yakima Valley College in 2021. She has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for 4 years as a CVT. Hailey has experience with not only small animals, but also exotics and large animals. Hailey has had a love of animals since she was little, and she always wanted to help people and their pets. She always wants to make a good lasting impression with pet parents and her patients that allows them to feel safe and comfortable for every visit. Hailey is the clinic spicy cat whisperer and has a way with spicy dogs as well. She enjoys the challenge of gaining their trust and teaching them that they are safe with her while they are in her care. She also prides herself on good pet parent education and wants to make sure she equips them with all the information needed to help their pets.
In her spare time, Hailey enjoys spending time with her dog and cat, watching movies, gaming, and hiking.
Faith
Certified Veterinary Assistant
Faith received her Veterinary Assistant Certification in 2023 and has been practicing since. She didn’t set out to work in Veterinary Medicine, but soon found her love of animals a drive for her to start seeking out her CVA. Faith prides herself in helping pets feel comfortable when they are here, especially when they are going through a difficult health issue. She enjoys the trust she builds with pets she cares for over time, knowing they are safe with her. Faith enjoys helping pet parents feel better in scary situations with their pets, providing comfort for both.
When she isn’t at the clinic, Faith enjoys spending time with her dog Maddie, watching scary movies, SpongeBob, and relaxing.
Kelly
Kelly has been a VA at the clinic for 2 years, having had many years of experience with both small and exotic animals. Kelly found her calling to Veterinary Medicine after a life changing trip to Africa, where she spent time with wildlife. She has been able to care for animals in private practices, shelters, wildlife sanctuaries and enjoys traveling to other countries to care for animals in sanctuaries when she can. She is currently working on learning more about Farm and large animals to expand her ever growing skillset.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys hiking with her two cute little dogs, being in nature, going to concerts, traveling to beautiful places, and hanging out with friends.
Julie
Julie is new to Veterinary Medicine, having joined the team in 2024. Julie has worked in a variety of careers and has found a niche in Veterinary Medicine. She enjoys caring for her patients and helping pet parents understand how to care for their pets the best they can. Julie also enjoys the technical side of Veterinary Medicine, helping with surgeries, dentals, and other diagnostics to help pet parents get to the bottom of their pet’s health issues.
In her spare time, Julie enjoys being with her three cats, cooking, and listening to music.
Sheryl
Sheryl has been at the clinic for 10 years, working as a groomer here for her first 2 years, and then started helping when she had some extra time. She has always loved animals, which was the main reason for her stepping into Veterinary Medicine. She has experience with large and small animals. Sheryl went between grooming and being the lead CSR until she started cross-training as a Veterinary Assistant and officially retired from grooming to be a full-time VA/CSR. Sheryl is now only a VA and enjoys helping pet parents learn how to give medications and injections, and guiding them in their care for their pets and large animals.
When she isn’t working, Sheryl enjoys caring for her family, 5 horses, 6 dogs, and 9 cats. She enjoys building things, horseback riding, and painting in her spare time.
Hailey
Hailey has been at the clinic since 2023, having started as a Kennel Tech. She worked her way up to a Veterinary Assistant recently. Hailey loves to take care of animals and enjoys working with her team to give pets the best experience. Communication is important to her as it allows pet parents and their pets to feel safe.
When she isn’t working, Hailey enjoys attending rodeos, concerts, hiking, camping, fishing, riding horses and lassoing, FFA, and playing Basketball.

Tammy
Tammy is new to Veterinary Medicine, but is finding she enjoys seeing all the pets and helping pet parents with their fur-baby’s health. Tammy has been in customer service for years and joined the Chewelah Team in 2025 as a CSR. Tammy loves to interact with pet parents and help them feel welcomed and cared for. She believes in making every pet parent feel like they are important. Tammy is also a strong animal advocate and has a true heart for animal welfare.
When she isn’t providing excellent customer service, Tammy is at home with her 3 dogs and her family. She enjoys reading, watching all the Harry Potter movies, beading, puzzles, walking her dogs, and sometimes just doing nothing.
Jessica
Jessica is new to Veterinary Medicine and has found it to be both a good challenge and fulfilling. She is a tenderhearted person who will cry with any pet parent going through a hard time with their fur-baby and make sure they experience compassionate care. Jessica believes in being warm and compassionate while making the veterinary experience less scary for all pets and pet parents. She also believes all animals are precious and should be cared for and loved.
When she isn’t helping pet parents, Jessica enjoys spending time with her best friend, her kids, and grandkids, watching movies, listening to music, and walking in nature.
