Veterinarians

Picture of Dr. Jes

Dr. Jessica Adams is a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was an associate at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic from 2005 until January 2011, when she purchased the clinic. Dr. Jes is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator, and a licensed brand inspector. She has a particular interest in reptile medicine.

Picture of Dr. Mike

Dr. Michael Burdette is a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. A member of the American Veterinary Association, Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, and a licensed brand inspector, he founded the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic in 1981. At the end of 2010, Dr. Mike mostly retired, selling the clinic to Dr. Jes. Now he occasionally comes in from fishing to do an orthopedic surgery or two. In August 2011 Dr. Mike was elected to serve as the Inland Empire Veterinary Medical Association's Executive Board representative with the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Steve Harroun is a graduate of the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been an associate at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic since 1992. Prior to moving here, Dr. Steve owned a clinic in Enumclaw. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, and a licensed brand inspector. Dr. Steve has a particular interest in cattle, and when not at clinic, he is usually working his own herd of Black Angus cattle.

Veterinary Technicians

Kellie obtained her Veterinary Technician License in 2006, and worked as a technician at both the Moscow Animal Clinic and Hospital and the Spokane Pet Emergency clinic before joining the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic team in January 2010. Kellie has a special fondness for Malamutes.

Picture of Lisa

A local girl, having been born and raised in the Chewelah area, Lisa has been working in the veterinary world since 1995, when she started working as a vet assistant at Creekside Veterinary Hospital. Lisa graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program at Pierce College in 2000. As a licensed tech, Lisa enjoys various aspects of working with animals, from working with their owners to sugical and nursing duties.

Veterinary Assistants

Picture of Clara

Clara is the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic’s Surgery Assistant. She has been with the clinic since August 1998. Clara tries hard not to play favorites among patients, but can’t help loving Labradors just a little more than most other dogs.

Picture of Melinda

Melinda has been a veterinary assistant at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic since May 2007. She has been involved in cattle work, both dairy and beef, for most of her life.

Rosa has been a veterinary assistant at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic since September 2008. Prior to joining our team, she was an assistant for Creekside Veterinary Service. Rosa is a through-and-through cat lover, with a particular fondness for orange kitties.

Eileah graduated from Carrington College's Veterinary Assistant program in 2010. She worked at Echo Ridge Veterinary Hospital for a year prior to joining our team.

Receptionists

Picture of Cindy

Cindy is married with one son, Skye, who played on the Biddy Ball team sponsored by the clinic in 2011. She has 2 dogs, named Mack and Thor, and a crazy cat named Eddie; she calls them her "four-leggers". Cindy joined the team in 2007, after working in human medicine as a phlebotomist for 18 years prior. She says she finds working with animals and their owners to be more rewarding.

Terri was a receptionist at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic from 1989 to 2012. Terri retired this spring; thank you for all you did for the clinic.

Groomer

Picture of Sally

Sally has run her dog-salon at the Chewelah Veterinary Clinic since 2001. Prior to moving here, she operated a grooming business in Lakewood for over 15 years.
